Attending NERC? We hope you are! In the morning you’ll have the opportunity to choose one of these informative sessions presented by professionals in the International Education field. Check out the “Schedule” page for what else the day will bring!
1) “Postgraduate Opportunities Here and Abroad”
This session will explore graduate school opportunities overseas, the prestigious Fulbright Grant, as well as domestic graduate programs in Int’l Education. Speakers include Rebecca Bacon (Colleges of the Fenway); Nora Larkin (CAPA); and Joe Stanley (Simmons)
2) “I took the leap. Went Abroad. It was AMAZING. So now what?”
Presenters will facilitate a discussion on how study abroad returnees can “keep the experience alive” by engaging in international experiences in their circles of influence – both on campus and in their local communities. Presenters offer a range of perspectives on international involvement – from student to administrator, private college to public university, and small town to large city. Attendees will walk away from the session with tangible ideas on ways they can be involved – in meaningful ways – after they return from study abroad. Speakers include Andrea Haynes (ISA); Dena Navarroli (Western New England University); and Darcy Palmer (Bridgewater State University).
3) “Employment and Internship Opportunities Abroad for New Graduates”
This workshop will introduce students to professional opportunities abroad in the form of long-term employment and paid and unpaid internships. The session will help students navigate the resources available to them in selecting and pursuing jobs and internships overseas by helping students articulate their goals for working/interning abroad. This self-reflection will assist students in narrowing their scope and determining whether or not pursuing professional opportunities abroad is appropriate based on their goals. Speakers include Rebecca James (CEA) and Ben Pollok (CET).
